I also understand people's advice when they say not to look lost. Emile and I caught the subway to the station where we needed to catch the 919 express. We searched up and down this street and came across the 919 stop. There was a local man there that could speak english and he told us that the 919 buses don't run after 9:30 and we missed them all and that there was no other bus. Emile and I were starting to get a bit confused at this stage.
I think we walked up and down this street about 10 times asking people in REALLY bad mandarin accents "chang cheng?"
Anyway, after about 30 minutes we finally ventured down further than were we had been looking and found all the express buses.
This guy had us on and I can see where so many people that don't know what's going on get trapped because by him telling us that the buses don't run and to wait with some other people that also missed the bus; there's another tour bus coming - that gets him business.
That experience has taught me a lot. The whole day taught me a lot and emersion has to be the scariest but most thrilling experience ever.
AND, my legs have had a good work out.

nice pictures elle! ahhh all those stairs and distance.. that is crazy..
ReplyDeletei wanna visit the great wall!!
he had his hustle game on 3000% and i figure that is one of the best places to take advantage of discomfort.
ReplyDeleteoh me oh my, that wall is fly.
word. emillie and I didn't get very far because the steepness of the hills really took a toll on our leg strength. We only got about a km in to the wall. I wish I could have walked further but there was even more extreme hills ahead. I'm going to have to try this again another time.
ReplyDeletei agree; the wall is so so fly lou!
